How to Verify Your TIN Number Online

TIN2 min readUpdated May 30, 2026

If you are not sure whether your TIN is correct, or you cannot remember it, the BIR has official ways to check. Here is how to verify your TIN safely.

Why you might need to verify a TIN

People check their TIN for many reasons: starting a new job, filling out a government form, or confirming the number they have on file is the right one. Since each person is allowed only one TIN for life, verifying first also helps you avoid the mistake of applying for a second one.

The official ways to verify

The BIR offers a few legitimate channels:

  • The official BIR TIN Verifier mobile app, where you can confirm your TIN and RDO.
  • The BIR's Online Registration and Update System (ORUS), if you have an account.
  • Contacting the BIR directly, or visiting your Revenue District Office, with a valid ID.

Always use official BIR channels. Be careful with third-party sites that claim to look up TINs, since your TIN is sensitive personal information.

If you find you have more than one

If verification shows you somehow have more than one TIN, do not ignore it. Having multiple TINs is against the rules, and you should have the duplicate cancelled so only one remains active.

Ask AskOnward how to cancel a duplicate TIN or how to recover a number you have lost.

Frequently asked questions

How can I check my TIN online?
Use the official BIR TIN Verifier mobile app, or your ORUS account if you have one. You can also contact the BIR or visit your RDO with a valid ID. Avoid third-party lookup sites.
Is there an official BIR app to verify a TIN?
Yes. The BIR provides an official TIN Verifier mobile app that lets you confirm your TIN and registered RDO. Make sure you are using the genuine BIR app.
What if I find out I have two TINs?
Each person is allowed only one TIN. If you discover a duplicate, you should have it cancelled so a single TIN remains. Ask AskOnward for the steps.
