How to File and Pay BIR Taxes Online

Filing2 min readUpdated May 30, 2026

Filing and paying your BIR taxes no longer has to mean a trip to the office and a queue at the bank. The BIR has online systems for both. Here is how it fits together.

Filing your return online

There are two main systems for preparing and submitting returns:

  • eBIRForms, the offline and online package most individual taxpayers and small businesses use to fill out and submit returns.
  • eFPS, the Electronic Filing and Payment System, used mainly by larger taxpayers and those required to enroll.

Paying what you owe

Once a return is filed, you can pay through several digital channels, which commonly include:

  • Online banking and the BIR's electronic payment partners
  • E-wallets and mobile payment apps that support BIR payments
  • Over-the-counter at authorized agent banks, if you prefer in person

Recent reforms have widened where you can file and pay, so you are no longer limited to your home RDO or a specific bank.

Good habits for online filing

Keep the confirmation or reference number you get after filing and paying, since that is your proof. File ahead of the deadline so a system slowdown does not cause a late payment.

Ask AskOnward which system applies to you and what the current accepted payment channels are.
