Authority to Print (ATP): Getting Your Official Receipts and Invoices

Receipts & Invoices1 min readUpdated May 25, 2026

Authority to Print, or ATP, is the BIR's approval that lets an accredited printer produce your official receipts or invoices. Here is how it fits into running a registered business.

What ATP is

An Authority to Print is permission from the BIR for a printer to produce your official receipts or sales invoices. Businesses issue these documents to customers, so the BIR controls how they are printed.

How to apply

In general:

  • File the application for Authority to Print using BIR Form 1906.
  • Apply at the Revenue District Office where your business is registered.
  • Once approved, an accredited printer produces your receipts or invoices.

The simpler option for new registrants

New business registrants who prefer not to deal with printing right away can opt to use BIR Printed Receipts or Invoices during registration. In that case an Authority to Print is not required at the start.
